In spring 2025, we joined the vibrant community of musicians in Shiraz during a powerful celebration of contemporary music: Shiraz Jazz Week, held from April 26 to 29 at the Shiraz Café Theatre.

Organized with the support of independent artists and local cultural institutions, this festival became a space for experimentation, dialogue, and the rediscovery of jazz as a global language within a uniquely local context. Notably, the festival coincided with International Jazz Day on April 30, 2025, a symbolic intersection that gave Shiraz Jazz Week a broader, global resonance.

Saturday, April 26

One of the most outstanding highlights of the week was the appearance of composer, guitarist, and bandleader Alireza Ghahremani, who presented a live performance of his acclaimed album “Zaranjee” on April 26 in two consecutive sets. Accompanied by a dynamic Iranian ensemble of six musicians, Ghahremani delivered more than a concert, it was a narrative journey, blending improvisation and intercultural dialogue rooted in Iranian folk, Mediterranean rhythms, and Latin jazz influences.

Sunday, April 27

On April 27, Ghahremani also led a workshop titled “Jazz Talks” focused on musical communication and the shared language between musicians. This interactive session received strong engagement from attendees and explored themes such as attentive listening, real-time collaboration, and trust between performers.

Monday, April 28

Ghahremani’s presence continued with a performance on April 28, where he joined the “Monday Jazz Ensemble” a group of young talents and emerging jazz musicians active in Shiraz. Their performance showcased the synergy between local grassroots energy and contemporary jazz expressions.

Tuesday, April 29 On April 29, Alireza Ghahremani returned to the stage with his “Jazz Trio” performing a selection of modern jazz repertoire. The intimate and minimalist set, full of spontaneous interaction, resonated warmly with the Café Theatre audience.

A summary of Alireza Ghahremani’s performances at Shiraz Jazz Week

Ghahremani is considered one of the rising voices in Iran’s contemporary music scene, known for his unique signature in both composition and performance. His first official performance after releasing his debut album “Zaranjee” took place on January 25, 2025, at AVA Platform in collaboration with Sakhte Iran Records and Owrsi Cultural Magazine. The concert, hosted at 8Platt of AVA Center, was officially announced and ticketed via the AVA Platt website.

During that performance, Ghahremani presented the full album live with his ensemble and received widespread acclaim from jazz and experimental music audiences. He concluded the night by premiering a new piece titled “Cherry Tea,” from an upcoming album still in production, hinting at the continuing evolution of his artistic journey.
