His compositions draw inspiration from Iranian folk culture, poetry, and storytelling, seamlessly blending these influences with the vibrant rhythms and harmonies of jazz and world music.

“Vaak Records”

“zaranjee” is derived from the combination of “Zaar” which in Farsi means strong crying and “Ranj” means suffering. The pain that makes a person scream and cry. In the music of North Khorasan of Iran, “Zaranjee” is a part of the “Gerayeli Maqam“, as if the instrument (Dotar) is wailing and shouting. It evokes a moment when a girl sits on the dead body of her beloved and cries and screams.
